Don't underestimate the impact of interesting pulls. I have a very similar kitchen; cherry, stainless, oiled bronze pulls. You need the texture of a colorful, fabric treatment, perhaps even a cornice, but stay away from grasses.
You need color jewel tones to compete with the intensity of cabinetry.
