Whether you come off the waitlist depends on how many admitted students will choose to enroll and how many empty seats are left open. Can you explain or elaborate further on what you mean by over correcting? I am new to this process. UCs have been making very conservative number of offers upfront and placing really large number of students on waitlist, in an attempt to prevent over-enrollment there is a whole backstory about that.
My guess is the UCs made even smaller number of offers this year and put an even larger number of students on waitlist.
